mY STORY

Venise Dixon

Indulgence Health is the realization of my dreams. When I earned my engineering degree in 1996 and began working in Corporate America, I would come home each night feeling like I could do more to create a lasting impact to my community. I wanted to explore my interests in alternative healthcare plus address the issue that there are very few Black-owned health and wellness spas and safe spaces for Black women and men, and other minority groups to receive treatment in Maryland.

In 2005, I went to school for massage therapy. I initially started as a part-time solo mobile business in 2007. Mainly working on family, friends and referrals. In 2013, I rented two rooms inside a hair salon and hired my first therapist/receptionist. This experience helped me shape my vision for Indulgence as a health and wellness space versus a spa and opened Indulgence Massage & Bodywork as a brick and mortar business, (now known as Indulgence Health) in 2014.

Touch is one of the first forms of communication that we learn, and a key part to preserving physical and mental health. I’m proud that our clients experience immediate relief from pain, depression, and anxiety through our services; and for the past 10 years, we’ve served, helped heal, educated and created a lasting impact in our community.

About Indulgence Health

In 2007, I named the company Indulgence to guide the consumer to realize their personal health is a priority and important enough to participate in regularly ("indulge"). Over the years the name transformed from “Indulgence Spa” to “Indulgence Massage & Bodywork” to finally “Indulgence Health”. Today, Indulgence Health is a professional alternative health and wellness space and apothecary offering services and products dedicated to helping you heal physically, mentally, and emotionally. Our training and techniques are evidence based and adhere to the highest ethical standards. We are proactive, integrative, and innovative in our approach to massage therapy, post-op care, skincare and our wellness services.
